Being the genius that Bryan is, He got coaxed into running the St. George Marathon, by his sister and dad and our brother in law. His whole thing was you don't need to train to run a marathon ( See I said he was a genius!! haha). Since St George was a lottery pick he didn't think he had anything to worry about and thought he wouldn't get in. Well Bryan, Sara, Kevin and Bryant all signed up and what do you know, they all got in!! Bryan was stuck!! He ran a total of 7 miles before ran this Marathon. But he felt confident and wasn't nervous at all. So I was nervous for the both of us and hoped I would have a husband when it was all over. He did say at the starting line of the race he felt dumb because everyones shoes looked worn and run in and his were brand spanking new so when he went to the porta potty he made sure he kick dirt on them and drug them in the dirt!! He is so funny!! I had never been to a marathon before, and I can tell you it was a really neat experience. I personally would never run one, because it looked painful and very tiring, but it was so neat to watch these people run such a long distance.
For only funning 7 miles before running this marathon, I feel Bryan did pretty well. He ran it is 5 hours and 13 minutes. We waited for him at Mile 23 and then headed to the finish line to see him cross the finish line. When I saw him running down the Canyon at mile 23 I bawled my eyes out. Even though he wasn't so smart in not training, he did make me proud! He was doing really good and it looked like he may make it under 5 hours, but he said at mile 24 his body kind of shut down and it took all he had to make it to the end!! But once again when he was coming toward the finish line I cried again. Such a great accomplishment!! Most people get the running bug after their first marathon and want to do another. Not Bryan!! He is totally content with doing one and being done! He did say he would love to go back and volunteer, but running is not his thing. I love my husband so much and even though he doesn't always make the best decisions, Like not training, more often than not he makes me proud to be his wife!!
I was also really proud of Sara, Kevin and Bryant. Sara is a big time marathon runner and she was awesome and ran with her dad and pushed him! Bryant also did an awesome job. It was fun and really neat to see so many of my family members accomplish such a great thing. We had an awesome weekend together (minus after the race and the day after for a few people who couldn't walk all that well). It is always fun to be with family!!!
