I know those you who aren't animal lovers my not understand this, but the past weekend we had a horrible experience. Bryan and I noticed that on Friday Zoiee wasn't moving very much. She wouldn't even come for a treat. I noticed that she had thrown up Easter grass that Bryan had gotten in a little St. Patricks day goodie bag. I noticed that she had cried one time when I went to pet her. We decided to watch her until the next day. Saturday she seemed a little better, but still just laid around. At about 10:30 Sat night we noticed her stomach was swelling so we took her in to the emergency vet. They took x-rays and said that her stomach didn't look right and that he thinks she may have some of the Easter grass still in her and that we need to do surgery to get it out or she would die. We decided to do the surgery and what the found was far worse then having something in her. She had an abruption on her Pancreas and it looked like cottage cheese and rotten so they had to remove 1/4 of it. The said this was the most painful thing a dog could go through, she was in sooo much pain and it broke my heart. They said that she would most likely be in the vet for 4-5 days. Well we have a fighter, she was doing so well after 2 days she got to come home. The Vet was so amazed at how well she was doing for what she had been through. It was such an emotional weekend and we haven't cried that hard in a long time. I know to some people they may say it is just a dog, but to us she is part of our family. She was our first baby and when I miscarried my first pregnancy, she stayed by my side every minute of the day and comforted me!!! She is such a good dog and lets the kids wrestle with her and climb all over her without any complaint. In fact just on Friday when she was sooo sick and in a ton of pain, Maelie was climbing on her and she just let her. She still isn't out of the wood works yet and we have to watch her every minute, but I feel very blessed that she is home with us. Thanks for all the Prayers and thoughts that were with us during this hard time. We love our little Zoiee!!!!

We love Zoiee too!! She's so picked on living in a family with dogs that are all bigger than her. We're going to miss her playing with us for the next two month. But we're going to have a big return party, with healthy food for her so she won't get sick again.
Your lice dogs can't play for that long any way Sara!

I'm glad Zoiee is okay and I'm glad you are all feeling better too! What a bummer to have mono. Let me know if you ever need any help with the kids or anything. We need to get together when the weather gets warm again and go to the park or something fun like that! Are you still babysitting?
WOW i can't believe all that you had to go through...it's a good thing the vet caught it in time! we hope that she is doing well...on a different note...i love your new blog background, so I had to go to the site that you went to and get one of my own! I'm such a copy cat! but they were soooo cute!!!!! We'll keep Zoiee in our prayers!!!

I am right there with you, animals are a part of the family. I cry just thinking about the possibility of something happening. I am so happy that she is getting better! They bring so much happiness into a family!
You know me and dogs:) I think Zoiee and Taffy (my grandma's dog) are the only dogs I've ever LOVED!! So glad she is home and getting better.
I know exactly how you feel! Pets are just like a member of the family. It is sad when they are so sick. I am happy for you that she is doing better.

I feel so bad . . . I poped onto your site yesterday and just glanced through your pictures. Then I stopped this morning to actually read what you wrote and thought that there is definately more to the story than pictures can tell. I'm glad she is doing so much better.
Oh, my goodness! That's so sad...I'm glad she's doing better, though. Dogs are amazing, aren't they? I can't stand to see animals in pain. My big fear is going through something like that when we get a dog (which won't be for awhile since we are renting right now). I didn't grow up with dogs, so I'm worried that I won't know when they need to see a doctor...
